Common Storage Compartment Services

Fiberglass Compartment Repair

Fix cracks, delamination, and water damage.

Compartments get loaded with heavy gear, knocked around and left holding water, so cracks at the corners and lid frame are common, and standing water can stain and delaminate the shell. We grind out cracked or separated fiberglass, rebuild it with new laminate, and finish the inside clean so the compartment is strong and easy to keep dry.

Lid & Hardware Replacement

Replace hinges, latches, gas struts, and locks.

Corroded hinges, latches that won’t catch and struts that no longer hold a lid open are everyday wear on a boat. We replace them with marine-grade hardware and repair or rebuild cracked lids. If the original hardware is no longer made, we fit a stainless equivalent and fill and refinish the old holes.

Drain & Vent Installation

Install proper drainage and ventilation systems.

A compartment without a working drain collects rain and washdown water, and without airflow it stays damp, which means mildew, odors and corroded gear. We add or replace drain fittings so water runs out where it should, fit vents to keep air moving, and bed every fitting in marine sealant so the fix doesn’t create a new leak.

Custom Compartments

Build new in-deck or console storage compartments.

If your boat is short on dry storage, we can build new compartments into the deck or console, sized for the gear you actually carry, from rods and tackle to safety equipment. Each one is laid up in marine-grade fiberglass with proper drainage, a gasketed lid and hardware, and finished to match your boat.

Leak Repair & Resealing

Stop leaks and restore watertight integrity.

Water in a compartment usually comes from a worn lid gasket, a cracked shell, a failed drain fitting or old sealant around the hardware. We track down where it’s getting in, repair any damaged fiberglass, fit a new gasket, re-bed fittings in marine sealant, and test for leaks before we hand the boat back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you repair a leaking storage compartment?

Yes. Leaks usually come from a worn lid gasket, a cracked or delaminated compartment, a failed drain fitting, or old sealant around the hardware. We find where the water gets in, repair the fiberglass, and re-seal the lid, drain and fittings with marine-grade materials.

Do you replace lids and hardware?

Yes. We replace hinges, latches, gas struts and locks, and repair or rebuild cracked lids. If the original hardware is no longer made, we fit a stainless equivalent and fill and refinish the old holes.

Can you build a custom storage compartment?

Yes. We build in-deck and console compartments from marine-grade fiberglass, sized to your gear, with drainage and a lid finished to match your boat.

How do you ensure the compartment is watertight?

We bed every fitting in marine sealant, fit a new gasket to the lid, make sure the compartment drains properly, and test it for leaks before the job is done.

How long does a storage compartment repair take?

A lid or hardware replacement is often quick. Fiberglass repairs and custom builds take longer, because the laminate and gelcoat need time to cure. We’ll give you a timeline with your quote.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the compartment, the damage, and the hardware involved. Send us a few photos, and we’ll give you a free, no-obligation quote.
